Samsung will supply OLED panels for the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro

28 August 2019, 11:25:30

Samsung will supply OLED panels for the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 ProIndustry sources cited by BusinessKorea say that Huawei will source out OLED panels from Samsung for its top models coming this fall - the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. Up to now, Huawei has used Samsung OLED panels for the P20, Mate 20 and P30 but the Pro versions use OLED panels from BOE. The main reason to switch to Samsung is the company's ability to meet the heavy demand. In addition, Mate 20 Pro had some defect panels from BOE.

It is expected that the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will have AMOLED panels with UD fingerprint sensors. The smaller model will have a 6.5-inch display with an FHD+ resolution, while the Pro version will arrive with a 6.7-inch panel and a QHD+ resolution. Some rumours say, this display will also have 90Hz refresh rate. Both models will be based on the yet-to-be-announced Kirin 985/990 chipset and will have 4200-4500 mAh batteries. Mate 30 is said to have three rear cameras - an ultra-wide, regular lens, and a telephoto unit, while the Mate 30 Pro will have all those three plus a 3D ToF camera on its back. 5x optical and 50x digital zoom are also rumoured for the Mate 30 Pro. The two devices are expected to be announced in October, while the Mate 30 Lite will be announced at the IFA 2019 next week.Source
