Google Pixel Fold is here with a 7.6" inner display, periscope camera, live Dual Screen translationGoogle Pixel Fold is the second mobile device presented by Google today. This is definitely a high-end business smartphone with an elegant design and a number of useful features in addition to a high-end spec sheet. The outer shell of the smartphone is made of matte glass and the frame uses polished aluminum. The available colors include Porcelain and Obsidian. Google says, its foldable smartphone has "the most durable hinge on a foldable." Moreover, it is the thinnest smartphone of the new-gen smartphones in this form factor. The stainless steel hinge is mirror-polished with multi-alloy steel construction, a custom dual-axis, quad-cam synchronized mechanism. Hence, it provides fluid friction at a full 180-degree unfolding securing various positions on the way. With an IPX8 ingress rating, the device is "ready for spills and splashes."

The outer display of the device has a 5.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2092 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for protection. It also arrives with an Always-on display with At a Glance and Now Playing. The HDR brightness of this screen is 1200 nits and the peak one reaches 1550 nits. The inner OLED display has a 7.6-inch diagonal size and a resolution of 2208 x 1840 pixels. It also features a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits of HDR brightness, and 1450 nits of peak one. Always-on display with At a Glance and Now Playing is available on this one as well.

Google Pixel Fold is powered by a 4821 mAh battery with 30W fast charging and wireless charging support. It is based on the Tensor G2 chipset with a Titan M2 security coprocessor. There are 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. No slot for a microSD card. The security level is really high with VPN by Google One at no extra cost, multi-layer hardware security, minimum five years of security software updates, anti-phishing and anti-malware protection, automatic security checks and privacy controls with security and privacy settings, camera and mic toggles, Private Compute Core to protect on-device AI features like Now Playing and Smart Reply, Android messages end-to-end encryption and Android backup encryption, and others.

The camera department of the Pixel Fold comprises a 48MP main unit with OPIS and CLAF, 82° field of view, and an f/1.7 aperture. It is adjoined by a 10.8MP ultra-wide snapper with an f/2.2 aperture and a 121.1° field of view. Finally, there's a 10.8MP periscope telephoto camera with an f/3.05 aperture, 21.9° field of view, and 5x optical zoom. The whole setup is aided by a LDAF (laser detect auto focus) sensor, a spectral and flicker sensor, OIS and EIS, and a fast camera launcher. On the front, there's a 9.5MP unit with an f/2.2 aperture. The camera on the inner display is an 8MP unit with an f/2.0 aperture. The main rear camera can record 4K vieos at 60 fps and 10-bit HDR video.

The Pixel Fold arrives with a single Nano-SIM card slot and eSIM support, dual stereo speakers with spatial audio and three microphones with noise cancelation, Wi-Fi 6 support, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 port. It arrives with a Quick Switch adaptor and a one meter USB Type-C 2.0 cable.

In terms of features, the model supports Split Scree, drag and drop of images, links, videos, and text from one app to another, and translation in Dual Screen. The latter is a feature that will arrive in the fall of 2023. This is a Live Translate interpreter mode that makes face-to-face distance conversations in different languages easier. The price of the model starts at GBP 1749 in the UK for the 256GB and reaches GBP 1869 for the 512GB variant.
