We have received a REDMAGIC 10 Air unit for review. The device has been available globally since May 7. In Europe, it starts from EUR 499. The 10 Air is a lighter and more affordable option for avid gamers, yet, does not compromise on any other smartphone aspect.
Weighing only 205g and being around 7.85mm thick, the 10 Air is easy to carry and store. The phone also comes draped in an ultra-thin, matte metal body that is both classy and functional. The Anti-Glare glass etching also ensures that your phone is resistant to fingerprints. The 10 Air also features customizable RGB lighting for calls, texts, charging, alarms, movie watching, and gaming. The 10 Air also comes equipped with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display by BOE with a 1116 x 2480 px resolution, 1600 nits of peak brightness, and a 120 Hz refresh rate.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 under the hood is paired with the RedCore R3 chip to ensure a powerful gaming experience and desktop-level graphics while preventing overheating and extending battery life. The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU also means 98% faster AI processing and 40% improved performance-per-watt for sustained AI inferencing. The 10 Air further amplifies gaming by using super-resolution technology to sharpen in-game textures and enhance visual clarity without straining the GPU. It also arrives with a convenient Magic Key that automatically launches the X-Gravity Gaming Center; however, you can also customize the button for quick access to other functions like taking photos, enabling the flashlight, or toggling the mute feature.
The 10 Air also makes use of unique shoulder triggers that are strategically positioned to resemble the shoulder buttons found on gaming controllers. This provides an immersive gaming experience that enhances precision and responsive gameplay, especially in fast-paced or competitive games. Gamers can also use screen casting to experience their game on a bigger screen while also connecting seamlessly to external gaming devices, like keyboards, mice, console controllers, and more.
The 10 Air boasts a 6000 mAh battery and 80W fast charging. The RedCore R3 chip and Energy Cube in the phone also take care of gaming-specific tasks to reduce the load on the main processor, improving power efficiency and battery life. The device also uses a unique ICE-X cooling system with 9 layers of cooling, including liquid metal, to ensure that your device stays frosty under pressure during those intense gaming sessions. Combining graphene and copper insulation with an 8000 mm² vapor chamber also helps the 10 Air maintain stable frame rates while preventing throttling and providing smooth gameplay.
REDMAGIC 10 Air is equipped with two 50MP back cameras and a 16MP front camera. The main 50MP camera also uses OIS optical image stabilization, a 7P lens, and an APL-coated anti-glare layer to ensure clear and sharp images, even in low-light conditions, by minimizing glare and reducing camera shake. The second 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera features an optimized distortion correction algorithm - ideal for capturing wide-angle shots like landscapes or group photos. The device also comes with flagship-quality 1012 upper and 1115 lower speakers to deliver symmetrical, rich, and immersive sound across various applications.
