The Pura 90 adopts what Huawei calls a "rhythmic geometry" design language, inspired by the curves and flow of a violin. The body emphasizes smooth contours, a lightweight feel, and a premium finish available in colors such as Snowfield White, Silky Black, and the more expressive Roland Purple. The device aims to blend elegance with everyday practicality, offering a comfortable grip and a visually striking presence. IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance are also present.
Photography remains the centerpiece of the Pura series, and the Pura 90 continues this trajectory with a dual "Red Maple Imaging" system on the front and rear. The main rear camera features a 50MP RYYB sensor with OIS designed to capture more light and deliver vivid, true‑to‑life colors. It is adjoined by a 12.5MP ultra‑wide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto module also equipped with OIS. The front camera mirrors the rear system's emphasis on clarity, offering a 50MP autofocus portrait sensor capable of 4K video and advanced AI‑driven enhancements.
The Pura 90 features a 6.8‑inch OLED display with a 1–120 Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate and 300 Hz touch sampling, delivering smooth interaction and vivid color reproduction across a 10.7‑billion‑color P3 gamut. With a resolution of 1320 x 2856 pixels and 460 ppi, the screen is protected by Kunlun Glass, Huawei's proprietary strengthened glass technology designed to improve drop resistance.
The Pura 90 is based on the new Kirin 9010S chipset and houses a large 6500 mAh battery, paired with Huawei's SuperCharge fast‑charging technology. According to the company, the device can reach a full charge in as little as 45 minutes and supports extended video playback and social media use without strain. The unit supports 100W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. Connectivity is strengthened by support for two‑way Beidou satellite messaging, allowing users to send images and location data even in remote areas without cellular coverage.
HarmonyOS 6.1 brings a refreshed interface, smoother animations, and deeper integration between software and hardware. Huawei highlights a 15% improvement in overall system performance compared to the previous generation, enabling faster app launches and more fluid multitasking. The phone also introduces a series of playful and interactive features, including animated "pet" companions that respond to user actions, personalized themes, and AI-driven content creation tools.
Security features include Huawei’s Star Shield anti-fraud system, which provides enhanced protection against scam calls and suspicious links. Encrypted sharing options allow users to control how long sensitive content—such as chat logs or screenshots—remains visible to recipients.
