Sony Xperia 1 VII debuts with a Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform Add as a preferred source on Google Sony Xperia 1 VII debuted today as a powerful tool for professional content creation. For starters, the smartphone has an improved design while retaining its flat and compact form factor. The new rigid frame and functional tactile rear glass exude quality in the hand, with improved grip and fingerprint resistance.

The Xperia 1 VII uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 in the front, which contains an average of 25% of pre-consumer recycled content. In addition, it maintains superior scratch resistance and improves drop performance on rougher surfaces. The back features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with a special texture and frosted glass finish, making it more resistant to fingerprints and surface scratches. Xperia 1 VII IP65/689 is also water-resistant and protected against dust.

The Xperia 1 VII display has evolved to look even more stunning in any situation compared to the previous model. With the addition of a new Rear Light illuminance sensor, automatic colour adjustment function, and an increase in peak brightness, visibility has been improved even under sunlight or in backlit conditions. AI image adjustment technology works on the image quality, including colour, contrast, and texture, reproducing the image quality of the BRAVIA flagship model. On top of that, the engineers make minor adjustments to improve reproducibility. At the same time, the basic specs are retained - a 6.5-inch OLED unit with a 10-bit color bit depth, 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage, BT.2020 colour gamut, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR.

Furthermore, the device can achieve an impressive two days of battery life with its 5000 mAh battery, and this usage time can be enhanced by processing optimization for use cases as watching videos, browsing the internet, etc. Processing power depends on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB/512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. For reliable and prolonged performance, the Xperia 1 VII features a vapour chamber cooler and graphite heat diffusion sheets for heat dissipation.

The Sony Xperia 1 VII provides access to audio quality just as the filmmakers intended. The unique full-stage stereo speakers are engineered to deliver a realistic sense of presence, featuring an expansive soundstage and true-to-life natural tone. Xperia supports many audio industry technologies and formats, including High-Resolution Audio, High-Resolution Audio Wireless, LDAC, Bluetooth LE Audio, Snapdragon Sound, 360 Reality Audio, and Dolby Atmos.

The high-performance audio integrated circuit and redesigned signal pathways were developed in collaboration with WALKMAN engineers. By using the same grade of high-quality components as the WALKMAN line and adding gold to the solder on the audio jack section, the transmission loss is thoroughly minimized, reproducing a dynamic sense of stage and scale. Fine sound resistors with non-magnetic copper plating help eliminate sound distortion from magnetic interference. It all adds up to smooth, transparent, and rich sound for music. The high-precision AI upscaling technology, DSEE Ultimate, was uniquely developed in collaboration with Sony Music. Everything you listen to is upscaled to restore resolution lost in compression, for a near High-Resolution Audio quality.

The Sony Xperia 1 VII can easily become an indispensable photo and video shooting tool. It adds a new 16 mm ultra-wide lens to the standard 24 mm and 48 mm focal lengths. The unique telephoto lens features true optical zoom from 85 to 170 mm. These three lenses feature ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating, which contributes to the superior optical quality of images by minimising unwanted lens effects such as reflections. A 24 mm front camera completes the camera set-up.

Built with industry-leading Alpha technology, Creative Look and S-Cinetone for mobile ensures colour and tonality much more typical of a professional camera than a smartphone. The Pro Photo and Pro Video camera interfaces are inherited directly from Alpha cameras for professional flexibility. To help improve the shooting experience, the size of the dedicated physical shutter button has been increased, making it easier to release. The button is also designed for 2-stage operation, just like a real camera, with a half-press to activate AF focus lock. Plus, you can press and hold the shutter button any time to launch the camera, even with the screen off, so you'll never miss a moment.

With AI Camerawork, your subject always remains in focus. Posture Estimation anticipates human movement for dependable focus, while the enhanced stabilisation ensures shots are smooth and compelling. The new Subject Position Lock maintains their position in the frame, even when walking and shooting, for truly professional results. No need to concentrate your attention on your phone screen for framing precious memories. With new Auto Framing, the Xperia 1 VII captures the whole scene with a wide angle, plus a horizontal or vertical close-up video.

The new 16 mm ultra-wide-angle sensor is 2.1x larger than the previous model, and the 24 mm lens features our revolutionary Exmor T for mobile sensor. The result is that both cameras can deliver night shooting equivalent to full-frame cameras, with low noise and wide dynamic range. The new ultra-wide lens reduces distortion often found in wide-angle photos of subjects like buildings and trees. Additionally, enabling the Face distortion correction feature6 allows it to correct facial distortions at the edges. Reviewing images on your Xperia 1 VII is a revelation. Powerful AI processing delivers Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF, for dependable, sharp focus, always ready for the perfect expressive moment.

Sony Xperia 1 VII is available in Moss Green, Orchid Purple, and Slate Black colors. The 256GB version costs £1399 / EUR 1499. The 512GB version is for Asian markets.
