Motorola launches the Moto G (2026) and Moto G Play (2026) in North America

Motorola is turning up the volume on entertainment with the launch of two new additions to its Moto G lineup in North America: the Moto G 2026 and Moto G Play 2026. These budget-friendly smartphones are designed to deliver immersive entertainment experiences with bold displays, intelligent cameras, and smooth performance - all at a price that's easy on the wallet.
Whether you're streaming your favorite shows, gaming on the go, or scrolling through social media, both devices make it effortless to enjoy content wherever you are. Each features a vibrant 6.7" display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, ensuring clarity and comfort in any lighting. With 5G connectivity and up to 12GB of RAM Boost, users can multitask seamlessly and stay connected at high speeds. Notably, this marks the first time the Moto G Play series supports 5G, bringing faster performance to more users.
Photography is made simple and stunning with AI-powered camera systems on both models. The Moto G boasts a 50MP main camera enhanced by Quad Pixel Technology for vivid shots in challenging lighting, plus a Macro Vision lens for detailed close-ups. Its 32MP front camera is ideal for capturing high-quality selfies. Meanwhile, the Moto G Play features a versatile 32MP rear camera system that's perfect for everyday photography, supported by AI tools like Night Vision, Auto Smile Capture, and Portrait mode. An 8MP front camera ensures clear selfies and smooth video calls.
To keep up with all-day entertainment, both phones are equipped with a robust 5,200mAh battery that delivers up to two days of power. When it’s time to recharge, TurboPower charging gets users back in action quickly - 30W for the Moto G and 18W for the Moto G Play.
Durability meets design with IP52 water resistance and Corning Gorilla Glass 3, offering protection against scratches and spills. The Moto G comes in two PANTONE-inspired colorways: Slipstream, a magnetic grey that conveys strength, and Cattleya Orchid, a luxurious purple that evokes creativity. The Moto G Play arrives in PANTONE Tapestry, a deep blue that blends sophistication with timeless appeal. Each device features a leather-like finish for a premium feel.
Running Android 16, both phones offer a secure and intuitive experience right out of the box. Users gain access to Google Gemini and Circle to Search, along with Motorola’s Hello UX suite, which includes Moto Secure, Family Space, and gesture-based controls for added convenience and personalization.
Availability for the Moto G 2026 in the U.S. begins December 11, unlocked on motorola.com, with Best Buy and Amazon.com following on January 15 at an MSRP of $199.99. Carrier availability starts the same day with Verizon, Total Wireless, Straight Talk, and others, expanding to additional networks like T-Mobile, AT&T, and UScellular in the coming months. In Canada, it launches December 11 on motorola.ca and will roll out to select carriers and retailers.
The Moto G Play 2026 will be available unlocked in the U.S. starting November 13 on motorola.com, BestBuy.com, and Amazon.com, priced at $169.99. It will also launch through T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, UScellular, Cox Mobile, and more, with further availability across major carriers and retailers in the following months. Canadian consumers can purchase it from motorola.ca beginning November 13.
