Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 - a power boost for mid-range smartphones

Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, its latest system-on-chip (SoC) aimed at elevating performance in mid-range Android devices. Built on a cutting-edge 4nm process, the new chipset delivers a significant leap in speed, efficiency, and connectivity compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3.The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 features an octa-core Kryo CPU with four high-performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. Qualcomm claims this configuration results in a 36% boost in CPU performance and a 59% improvement in GPU speed, making it ideal for gaming, multitasking, and media-heavy applications.
Gamers will appreciate support for Full HD+ displays with refresh rates up to 144Hz, along with Snapdragon Elite Gaming features like Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and Game Quick Touch. These enhancements promise smoother frame rates and reduced latency, even on budget-friendly devices.
On the connectivity front, the chipset integrates Qualcomm's latest 5G Modem-RF system, supporting both mmWave and sub-6GHz bands. It also includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and LE Audio for improved wireless performance and audio quality.
Camera capabilities have also received a major upgrade. The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 supports up to 200MP sensors and 2K video recording at 30fps, powered by a triple 12-bit Qualcomm Spectra ISP. Features like multi-frame noise reduction and hardware-based image processing aim to deliver sharper, more vibrant photos and videos.
With support for up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, the chipset is designed to handle demanding apps and multitasking with ease. Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ technology ensures faster charging times, rounding out a feature set that brings flagship-level performance to more affordable devices.
The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is expected to power upcoming smartphones from brands like Motorola, Xiaomi, Samsung, and HONOR, reinforcing Qualcomm’s commitment to democratizing high-performance mobile technology.
