ZTE has unveiled the Nubia Z50 Ultra Currently, this beautiful smartphone will be available in China only. The Z50 Ultra has a sleek, flat design on the front and back. The body is available in black and white colors and there's a special Starry Sky edition. For the latter, ZTE has used a three-dimensional etching process of an environmentally friendly AG glass to create a fine texture with a 3D effect. The white and black versions have a matte finish on their AG glass backs. The front is adorned with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display that is rimmed by extremely thin bezels - 1,68 mm on top and 1.48 mm on the sides. The display has an FHD+ resolution of 1116 X 2480 pixels, 10-bit color bit depth, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1500 nits of peak brightness, 1440 Hz pulse-width modulation dimming, and UL certification for low blue light.
The immersive display experience is also guaranteed by the lack of any type of notch or cutout in the display for the front camera. ZTE is a pioneer in under-display camera solutions and on the Nubia Z50 Ultra, the company uses its fourth generation of UDC with a UDC Pro+ independent display chip and an independent pixel driver. The transmittance of the area covering the camera sensor has been greatly improved. This has been achieved by using a sensor that can achieve a pixel size of 2.4 microns with pixel binning. In addition, ZTE has used a display material with high permeability and high transparency pixel arrangement plus an improved circuit design. The AI super-sensing engine behind the under-display camera delivers increased transparency and natural-looking photos.
The rear camera island of the Nubia Z50 Ultra is designed with two parallel lines in the top part of the rear shell with a multitude of rings. The top big ring is for the main 64MP Sony IMX787 camera with a 35 mm focal length. It uses a customized sensor behind an f/1.6 lens and is supported by OIS. The other big ring below marks the second 64MP camera. ZTE refers to it as a "portrait main camera" but it could also pass for a telephoto one with its 85 mm of focal length equivalent. This camera is aided by OIS as well. It has an aspheric lens with a blue film and IR coating. The small ring to the right of the main camera above houses the 50MP ultra-wide and macro camera with a 14 mm focal length equivalent. It supports autofocus and has an f/2.2 lens with a 116° FoV. It is capable of shooting macro photos from up to 2 cm of distance and 8K macro videos. The last ring houses a multi-channel spectral sensor surrounded by a 4-LED ring flash. This sensor provides the image sensor with accurate information about the ambient light and the object's colors. This is at the core of Nubia's NEOVISION camera technology. It also includes an optical super-division algorithm for the reconstruction of images with a higher focal length. The overall quality of telephoto photography has been improved by 30%.
Nubia Z50 Ultra is based on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 8GB/12GB/16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. There's no option for expansion. Power is supplied by a 5000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. The smartphone is cooled down by a 41442 sq.mm cooling system with a 4212 sq.mm vapor chamber. There are several features that will ensure enjoyable gaming as well. The device's display supports up to a 960Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate. Super Stable 3.0 ensures silky-smooth picture and stable output. A dedicated game space ensures no interruptions. The X-axis linear motor provides three-dimensional uplift. The smartphone features dual stereo speakers with DTS: X Ultra surround sound for an even more immersive experience.
Nubia Z50 Ultra is fitted with an under-display fingerprint sensor, a convenient multi-function button for muting, playing a game, or taking a picture without lighting up the screen. It is also equipped with a tri-frequency GPS positioning engine, an IR blaster, and a USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 port with DisplayPort Alt Mode.
