Ming-Chi Kuo: a new 12.9-inch iPad Air and two new OLED iPad Pros in the works for 2024
13 November 2023, 01:54:47

2024 iPad Air will be launched in the first quarter of next year and the lineup will include two models - a new 12.9-inch iPad Air with an oxide backplane and a 10.9-inch iPad Air with an a-Si backplane.
The OLED iPad Pro models will launch towards the end of Q1 or in Q2 of 2024. There will be two new OLED iPad Pros, replacing the mini-LED models featuring an M3 processor and improved form factor designs. The new displays will use the same panel technology used by the iPhone Pro series - tandem design and LTPO backplanes. It means improved peak brightness and less power consumption. These models are delayed to Q2 eventually due to production hurdles with the OLED panels. Ming-Chi Kuo expects that these models will also arrive with an increased price tag if the price gap between the iPad Air and OLED models is to be preserved. Hence, expectations for the shipments are around 6-8 million units with a weaker momentum compared to the current iPad Pro models.
More affordable iPad models are expected to hit the market in the second half of 2024. Mass production of the new iPad mini is delayed to 2H24 and the 11th Gen iPad will also enter production in the second half. The 9th Gen iPad will be discontinued by the end of 2024.
