8 May 2024, 09:03:30

Pixel 8a is unveiled with a 6.1" OLED display, Tensor G3, and a 64MP cameraPixel 8a is now official, featuring the same chip that powers the Pixel 8 Pro - the Tensor G3, Google AI features with improved photo and video editing, improved battery life, and durable design as well as 7 years of feature drops and security updates.

The camera department of the device is headed by a 64MP main shooter that supports Google AI and related features such as Best Take, with which you can combine similar photos into one where everyone looks great. Audio Magic Eraser reduces distracting noises in video like cars and wind, so you can hear the sounds you want. Use Magic Editor to change the background, move an object, make it disappear with Magic Eraser, and more. Photo Unblur can fix your blurry images – new or old – with just a few taps in Google Photos. Portrait Light in Google Photos removes harsh shadows and improves lighting, so portraits are even more flattering.

The 64MP main camera uses a 1/1.73" sensor with a 0.8 μm pixel size and an f/1.89 lens with an 80° field of view. It is adjoined by a 13MP ultra-wide unit with a 120° field of view, a 1.12 μm pixel, and an f/2.2 aperture. The ultra-wide camera supports OIS and EIS. A 13MP shooter sits on the front with fixed focus, an f/2.2 aperture, a 1.12 μm pixel, and a 96.5° FoV. Both the front and main rear cameras snap 4K videos - the rear at up to 60 fps and the front at up to 30 fps.

Phone calls, to-do lists, planning for almost anything, Google AI makes it even easier to get things done. Just draw a circle around an image or text, even in a video. Google AI finds it fast – directly from the app that you're in. Live Translate can interpret signs and menus with your camera, as well as messages as you type. Ask Gemini to read web pages out loud or translate them for you. And you can write messages twice as fast with your voice. At a Glance shows useful info without unlocking your phone, like live travel updates, weather alerts and more. Calls are easy to make and avoid.

The Pixel 8a is equipped with dual stereo speakers with two microphones and noise suppression. It is built around a 6.1-inch Actua display with an FHD+ OLED panel and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection glass. It delivers up to 1400 nits of brightness in high brightness mode and a peak brightness of 2000 nits. Power is supplied by a 4492 mAh battery with wireless charging support. Processing power depends on the Google Tensor G3 chipset paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device arrives with a singal Nano-SIM card slot, eSIM support, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port. It supports NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and Wi-Fi 6E.
