Huawei announces its foldable 5G smartphone - Huawei Mate XHuawei has just announced its 5G foldable smartphone - the Huawei Mate X. The handset features three screens in total - a 6.6-inch FullView main one (1148 x 2480 pixels), a 6.38-inch rear display(892 x 2480 pixels) and when folded out, the handset offers an 8-inch display with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. The device is 5.4 mm thin when unfolded. It combines the power button and the fingerprint sensor in one. The model has a Falcon Wing design and employs a true back-to-back fold - there's no empty space between the two parts. The device employs a patented hinge with some 100 components. Huawei's engineers have been working on this for 3 years. The software has been adapted to maximize the effect from the big screen with new multi-tasking experience. Huawei Mate X is equipped with the "best-in-class selfie camera with a new Leica lens". Actually, Huawei has created a 2-in-1 combined front and rear camera. Of course, 5G connectivity is ensured by Huawei's Balong 5000 modem. It works together with Huawei's top chipset - the Kirin 980. This model is currently the world's first smartphone that supports NSA&SA network architecture - that means it is ready for the second phase of 5G deployment. Power is supplied by two batteries with a total capacity of 4500 mAh. They support super-fast charging with 55W power output. This is currently the world's fast battery charging. In 30 minutes you can charge 85% of the battery. The SuperCHarge adapter can also be used to charge a laptop because of the new technologies it employs. Huawei Mate X is priced at €2299, will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and will go on sale in mid 2019.
