Unihertz 8849 Shark 1 goes official with a Dimensity 8200 chip and a 120Hz 6.79" display

8849 by Unihertz is ready to release a new rugged smartphone - the Unihertz 8849 Shark 1. This is the first from the new Shark series created especially to differentiate it from the Tank series, especially the projector models such as the Tank 3S and the Tank 3 Pro. To be precise, it even looks like a Tank 3S without the projector. 8849 by Unihertz did not unveil the complete specifications but what is known is identical to that of the Tank 3S.
The Unihertz 8849 Shark 1 is built around a 6.79-inch IPS display with a 1080 x 2460 px resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 (MT6896Z) system-on-chip. It is based on TSMC's 4nm production node and is created to provide a reasonable balance between quality 5G connectivity, power efficiency, and immersive gaming experience. The SoC combines an octa-core CPU with the MediaTek APU 580 AI processor and a sexta-core Mali-G610 GPU. The CPU has a single 3.1GHz Cortex-A78 core, three 3GHz Cortex-A78 cores, and four 2GHz Cortex-A55 cores. The GPU is clocked at 950 MHz and the APU 580 AI processor can efficiently work as a coprocessor for imaging, display, and gaming tasks. All this is complemented by MediaTek's HyperEngine 6.0 gaming technologies ensuring gamers can enjoy smooth high-framerate gameplay. The Unihertz Shark 1 has 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM that can be virtually expanded with up to 12GB. There are 256GB of built-in UFS 3.1 storage that can also be expanded via a microSD card.
Unihertz does not reveal the cameras parameters but the promo materials show three rear shooters. One is the main camera - most likely a 50MP Sony IMX766 unit. The second is a 64MP OmniVision OV64B40 Night Vision camera with four IR lights. The third remains a mystery but if it follows the Tank 3S specs - it should be an 8MP telephoto lens. The battery capacity remains unknown. The Unihertz 8849 Shark 1 will premier on August 199th prices USD 300.
