Samsung releases the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Fold 5G

Samsung releases the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Fold 5GAs of today, the Galaxy Fold is available for purchase in South Korea, which will be followed by France, Germany, Singapore, U.K., U.S., and other markets. When unfolded the Galaxy Fold offers a 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED Display (4.2:3) Infinity Flex Display with a resolution of 2152 x 1536 and 362ppi pixel density. In this case, the user has access to the two front cameras - a 10MP unit with 1.22μm pixel size, 80˚ field of view, and f/2.2 aperture as well as an 8MP RGB Depth Camera with a 1.12μm pixel size, 85˚ field of view and f/1.9 aperture. When folded, the out display Super AMOLED Display offers a 4.6-inch diagonal size and an HD+ resolution - 720 x 1680 pixels. In this case, the user has access only to the main front camera - the 10MP one.

The rear of the Galaxy Fold features three shooters. The first is a 16MP Ultra Wide Camera with an f/2.2 aperture, 1.0μm pixel size and 123˚ FoV. The second is the main shooter with a 12MP sensor, variable aperture - f/1.5-f/2.4, Super Speed Dual Pixel AF, OIS, 1.4μm pixel size, 77˚ FoV. The third camera is a 12MP telephoto unit with PDAF, OIS, f/2.4 aperture, OIS, 1.0μm pixel size, 45˚ FoV. The camera department supports dual OIS, 0.5x out and 2x in optical zoom, up to 10x digital zoom, HDR10+ recording, AF tracking.

The Galaxy Fold packs a 7nm octa-core CPU with a tri-cluster architecture 2.84GHz + 2.41GHz + 1.78GHz paired to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage. The LTE model has a 4380 mAh battery and the Galaxy Fold 5G is equipped with a 4235 mAh battery. Fast charging is available - both wired and wireless as well as Wireless PowerShare. The LTE model supports enhanced 2X2 MIMO, 6CA, LAA, LTE Cat.18. The Galaxy Fold 5G supports Non-Standalone (NSA), Sub6. Both support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax HE80 MIMO, 1024QAM, Bluetooth 5, ANT+, USB type-C, NFC, GPS, Galileo, Glonass, BeiDou. The Galaxy Fold features a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos (Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus included).
