Samsung unveils the Exynos 1080 chipset, Vivo will be the first brand to use this chipsetSamsung China has unveiled the Exynos 1080 chipset in Shanghai. It is made after the 5 nm process and uses EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography), which is considered the best manufacturing process for next-generation CPUs so far. Compared to the 8nm LPP (mature low power consumption), the 5nm EUV process adopted by Exynos 1080 has improved performance by 14% and reduced power consumption by 30%. Compared to the 7nm DUV (deep ultraviolet lithography), performance has increased by 7% and power consumption has decreased by 18%.

According to Samsung, the integrated modem of Exynos 1080 improves UL and DL speeds, allowing you to stream and load faster with less delay. Compatible with two types of 5G networks - mmWave and 6 GHz, and can achieve up to 5.1 Gbps downlink speed in sub-6GHz environments. Exynos 1080 supports frequency bands including 5G NR Sub-6GHz 5.1Gbps (DL) / 1.28Gbps (UL), 5G NR mmWave 3.67Gbps (DL) / 3.67Gbps (UL), LTE Cat.18 6CA 1.2Gbps (DL) / Cat. 18 2CA 200Mbps (UL). It also supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo.

The Exynos 1080 is designed to easily manage performance-intensive tasks and allows you to quickly switch between applications with less delay. It houses a tri-cluster, eight-core CPU that combines a single 2.8GHz Cortex-A78 core, three 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 cores, and four 2GHz Cortex-A55 cores. The graphic department is headed by a 10-core ARM Mali-G78 GPU. Under the Manhattan v3 standard, the overall GPU performance has increased by 2.3 times.

The Exynos 1080 supports FHD+ displays with up to 144Hz refresh rates, WQHD displays with up to 90Hz refresh rates, HDR10+, 4K 60fps video recording HEVC(H.265)/H.264/VP8/VP9 (10bit only with HEVC & VP9), single-camera Up to 200MP or dual camera setups up to 32MP+32MP.

Samsung said during the press conference that Vivo will be the first brand to launch a smartphone with the Exynos 1080 on board.
