Huawei orders 6.9" AMOLED panels from Samsung Display, most probably will be used in the Mate 20 series

Huawei orders 6.9" AMOLED panels from Samsung Display, most probably will be used in the Mate 20 seriesKorean media The Bell reports that Huawei will source 6.9-inch AMOLED panels from Samsung Display, which will be used in flagship smartphones in Q4 of 2018 and/or Q1 of 2019. Most probably, the first device to get it will be one from the upcoming Mate 20 series, which will be launched this fall. With a size that big, it is logical to suggest that there will be a whole new line within the series. The 6.9-inch display is not only the largest OLED panel used on a flagship smartphone but will the biggest one to date. The most rational reason behind this move is that Huawei aims to solidify its top position on home grounds. Chinese smartphone users prefer large screens more than users elsewhere in the world due to the large text area occupied by Chinese characters. In addition, the new iPhone is rumoured to have a 6.46-inch display, so this is yet another reason to bar the competition. Huawei takes the first place in the Chinese smartphone market with a market share of 21.2% and the third place worldwide with 11.4% market share following Samsung (22.6%) and Apple (15.1%).Source
