Samsung India opens the largest smartphone factory in the worldThe Samsung R&D Institute in India is based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and is also known as SRI-Noida and Samsung Noida Lab. It was established in 2007 as Samsung Software Engineering Lab (SEL) and renamed in 2013 along with SRI-Bangalore and SRI-Delhi. At this facility, the company is focused on developing, testing, and embedding mobile software in a variety of areas related to mobile phones. Today, it was announced that Samsung has chosen Noida for building the world's largest mobile factory. This is a new 35-acre facility at Sector 81 in Noida and has been inaugurated today by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korea's President Moon Jae-in. It opens its doors a year after Samsung has invested Rs 4915 crore in the expansion of the Noida plant. Currently, Samsung produces 67 million smartphones in India. With the added production facilities, it will be able to make almost 120 million mobile phones. A double increase in the production capacity of consumer electronics like TVs and refrigerators is also expected. 10% of Samsung's overall production comes from India and within the next three years, this figure has to go up to 50% according to the company's plans.Source
