BOE will supply on-cell OLED display panels for the Huawei Mate 40

BOE will supply on-cell OLED display panels for the Huawei Mate 40The Elec reports that according to "people familiar with the matter", BOE has been chosen to supply on-cell OLED display panels for the Huawei Mate 40 series. The Mate 40 series will have a standard and a pro version and are expected to launch in October. An on-cell display panel means that the touch electrode is placed on top of the thin-film encapsulation layer within the panel. This makes the panels thinner and cheaper to produce compared to the previous add-on OLED panels where the touch film was attached on top of the panel. This technology was created by Samsung. For its rigid OLED panels it is called Octa technology and for the flexible OLED panels it is called Y-Octa. In addition, for the Mate 40 Pro, BOE will co-supply with Samsung and LG Display. BOE has already supplied add-on OLED panels for the Huawei P40 and the Huawei P40 Pro. Samsung and LG Display supplied the on-cell OLED panels for the Huawei P40 Pro and Samsung was the only vendor for the Huawei P40 Pro Plus.Source
