Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will be unveiled on August 14th as part of Lei Jun's Annual Speech at 7 pm Beijing time. Announcing this, Xiaomi unveiled a teaser of the device which is expected to once again introduce groundbreaking advancements in foldable smartphones. One of the main focal points of the upcoming foldable is its Leica four-camera setup, including a periscope telephoto lens. The rear shell has a vegan leather finish and the hinge is once again improved allowing for a thing and lightweight form factor without compromising on sturdiness and reliability.
Lei Jun has created a short article on Weibo unveiling some of those advancements. According to him, the Mix Fold 3 is approaching a 5 mm profile unfolded, which is extremely thin. Moreover, Lei Jun says that the miniaturization of some electronic components has reached its optimum and there's a challenge of reimagining space stacking and the structure of foldables. Therefore, Xiaomi engineers endeavored new smartphone structures from scratch. More specifically, the hinge of a foldable is the technical cornerstone of the whole device. It not only determines the folding life, the opening and closing feel, and the shape of the screen but also how the internals are structured. Lei Jun said that Xiaomi engineers have come up with the optimal solution for current technology and craftsmanship. Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 completely overthrows the existing technology with a breakthrough hinge innovation. The complete details will be unveiled on August 14th.
