TSMC eyes possibilities for building a semiconductor plant outside TaiwanAccording to various Chinese media, the US government is discussing with TSMC the building of a chip factory in the United States. TSMC has the world's largest foundry semiconductor manufacturing plant and has Apple and Qualcomm as some of its main customers. The company has said that it actively assesses the establishment of overseas factories, which must meet the major requirements for economies of scale, cost-effectiveness, personnel organization, and complete supply chain. The United States is also an option, but there is no specific plan to set up factories in the United States. The current investment focus is all in Taiwan, and advanced process technology has been promoted to prepare for 3nm trial production. 2nm has also entered the R&D phase.
