Sony Xperia 5 goes official at the IFA 2019 in BerlinSony has announced the Xperia 5 at the IFA 2019 in Berlin. The model is available in black, red, blue and grey colours. It's narrow and elongated body is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on both sides and is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The front is adorned with a 6.1-inch CinemaWide display with an FHD resolution, HDR support, 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and support for the BT.2020 (REC.2020) colour space. The display has a 10-bit tonal gradation. It is backed by Sony's X1 for mobile and arrives with Creator mode "powered by CineAlta".

The Sony Xperia 5 is based on a Snapdragon 855 chipset paired to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable UFS storage. A 3140 mAh battery keeps the lights on combined with Xperia Adaptive Charging and USB Power Delivery (USB PD) fast charging. There are three 12MP cameras on the back of the handset. The main one has a 26mm focal length, 1/2.6” sensor size, 1.4μm pixel size and an f/1.6 lens with OIS for photos and OIS+EIS for videos. The second camera has a 16mm focal length, 1/3.4"sensor size, 1.0μm pixel size and an f/2.4 lens with SteadyShot and Intelligent Active Mode (5-axis stabilization). The third rear camera has a 52mm focal length, 1/3.4" sensor size, 1.0μm pixel size and an f/2.4 lens with OIS for photos and OIS+EIS for videos. The front camera packs an 8MP sensor with a 1/4"optical format, 1.12μm pixel size and an f/2.0 lens.

The Sony Xperia 5 runs on Android 9 Pie and supports NFC, Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C 3.1. It features stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Pre-orders start next week and the first units will be sent out in October.Source
