ARM uveils the brand new Mali Multimedia Suite of Video, Display and Graphics processorsToday ARM has announced its brand new Mali Multimedia Suite of Video, Display and Graphics processors. With these new products, it aims to complete its next-generation solutions for mainstream mobile and DTV. The suite includes the Mali-G52 and Mali-G31 GPUs delivering premium experiences to DTV, mainstream, and entry-level mobile; the Mali-D51 Display Processor for more complex visual experiences on mainstream devices; and the Mali-V52 Video Processor for efficient 4K60/4K120 content on mainstream devices. The Mali-G52 GPU offers 30% more performance density compared to its predecessor - the G51 as it uses wider execution engines with up to 8 pipelines, while the G51 uses 4. It also reduces power consumption by 15% and offers 3.6x the ML (machine learning) performance of the previous generation. The Mali-G31 GPU is the first Ultra-Efficient GPU to be built on the innovative Bifrost architecture. It also ARM's smallest processor to support OpenGL ES 3.2 and the latest generation Vulkan API. The G31 is 20% smaller, with 20% better performance density than its Bifrost predecessor, the Mali-G51, while offering 12% improvement for the growing complexity of UI. The Mali-D51 DPU is the first mainstream display processor to be built on the Komeda architecture and provides 30% less power consumption compared to its predecessor, the D71. It also doubles the scene complexity, supporting the 8 full layers as per the Mali-D71, and provides 50% better memory latency for seamless and highly efficient content casting. When combined with Assertive Display 5, it brings HDR support. The Mali-V52 VPU succeeds the V61 and offers efficient 4K60 content encoding and decoding, 20% better upload quality, and 38% smaller silicon area.Source
