Xiaomi India launches the POCO M8x 5G, which is almost a double of a China-bound Redmi model

The POCO M8x 5G was launched in India today, and if it's specs sheet sounds too familiar, you're not mistaken. This is the India version of the China-bound Xiaomi Redmi M100, which was unveiled a few days ago. Minor changes in design, the camera department, and lower-tier RAM+storage combos for the India model comprise the main differences between the two.
Processing power is based on the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, sporting a 2.5GHz CPU and an 840MHz Adreno 629 GPU. The POCO M8x 5G arrives with 128GB of built-in memory and either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The Redmi M100 offers 128GB/256GB of storage and 6GB/8GB of RAM. Power is supplied by a 7900 mAh battery with 45W fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging support.
The display is the same - a big 6.9-inch IPS panel with a low resolution of 720 x 1600 px (the pixels will most likely be visible to the naked eye). Still, the unit is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, delivers 825 cd/m² maximum brightness, has a 120Hz refresh rate, and employs several eye-safety technologies.
The camera department is where the two models differ most. The Redmi M100 has a modest 13MP+5MP duo, while the POCO M8x 5G features a 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie snapper. Both models pack dual stereo speakers and a headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C port.
