The announcement marks a major shift in how the company envisions the future of smartphone screens, combining the deep contrast, vivid color, and high brightness of AMOLED with NXTPAPER’s long‑standing focus on visual comfort. TCL positions this fusion as a new era of natural‑feeling, low‑fatigue mobile viewing - one that aims to reduce the strain associated with rising daily screen time.
TCL frames the advancement around a simple idea: a screen should feel as natural to the eyes as real light. The new NXTPAPER system is built on multi‑layered optimizations that adapt to every scenario - morning commutes, harsh indoor lighting, and late‑night reading alike. The company says this generation delivers a more lifelike, paper‑like experience than ever before, supported by internationally recognized SGS and TÜV certifications.
A major leap comes from an upgraded Circular Polarized Light system. The polarization rate now reaches 90%, up from 57% in the previous generation, bringing emitted light closer to the behavior of natural light. Harmful blue light has been reduced by an additional 15%, dropping to as low as 2.9%. Circadian‑aware adjustments shift brightness and color temperature throughout the day, while dim‑light protection allows the screen to fall to just 1 nit at night, creating a gentler, sleep‑friendly viewing environment.
TCL is also introducing the first anti‑glare technology ever applied to an AMOLED smartphone display. Using nano‑matrix lithography, the surface minimizes reflections and environmental glare without sacrificing clarity. The result is a screen that remains readable outdoors in bright sunlight or near windows, reducing the need to tilt or shield the device. An adaptive reading mode further adjusts background tones based on ambient light, reinforcing the paper‑like feel during long reading sessions.
By merging NXTPAPER with AMOLED, TCL aims to eliminate the trade‑off between eye comfort and premium image quality. The display supports ΔE<1 color accuracy and 100% P3 wide color gamut coverage, offering true‑to‑life visuals suited for photography, shopping, and video. Peak brightness reaches 3200 nits for outdoor visibility, while a 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and motion.
TCL attributes this breakthrough to its vertically integrated display ecosystem, led by TCL CSOT. The company’s expertise across Mini LED, Micro LED, OLED, and inkjet‑printed OLED technologies provides the foundation for integrating NXTPAPER with AMOLED. TCL’s leadership in large‑screen categories—reinforced by Omdia’s 2024 shipment rankings - gives it a broad view of how consumers interact with displays across devices, informing its approach to mobile screens.
TCL positions this milestone as part of its broader mission to make technology more human.
