REDMAGIC 11 Air Design, Build, and Controls
The REDMAGIC 11 Air design blends industrial transparency, sharp contours, and purposeful visual engineering to create a device that feels both high‑tech and unmistakably performance‑driven. The device presents a bold, futuristic aesthetic that immediately signals its gaming DNA. Its transparent back panel reveals a curated view of the internal components, arranged with deliberate symmetry to highlight the phone’s engineering. Accents such as the illuminated REDMAGIC logo and the geometric detailing around the cooling elements reinforce the high‑performance identity.
The REDMAGIC 11 Air brings sleekness back with a slim, lightweight profile built for gamers who stay on the move. Its ergonomic, subtly curved frame ensures a comfortable grip during long sessions, while the fully transparent rear - enhanced with RGB lighting - creates an immersive, see‑through aesthetic. Crafted with precision, the device combines aviation‑grade aluminum alloy with a 3D micro-isolated glass with increased transparency on the back, delivering durability, a smooth finish, and a refined, high‑end look that stays true to its sleek identity.
Despite its refined elegance, the REDMAGIC 11 Air delivers a reassuring sense of solidity, feeling cool and sturdy in the hand. Among smartphones with roughly a 6.8‑inch display and a 7000 mAh battery, it stands out as one of the most compact options - made even more remarkable by the inclusion of an internal cooling fan. Measuring just 76.54 mm in width, 163.82 mm in height, and a slim 7.85 mm in thickness, it maintains a lightweight profile at only 207 grams. IP54 dust and water splashes resistance ensures reliable performance even during intense gaming sessions or outdoor use. The available colors of the global variant include Phantom and Prism. We are reviewing a Phantom (black) variant. This is the subtler variant, reminiscent of a vinyl record aesthetic. The Prism (white) conveys a more "racing track" flair.
From the front, the REDMAGIC 11 Air presents a seamless viewing surface thanks to its under‑display camera, preserving the purity of an uninterrupted screen. Ultra‑thin 1.25 mm bezels frame the bright display covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, while the slim metal chassis wraps tightly around it, offering only the slightest tactile hint of its edges. Navigation can be tailored with either on‑screen gestures or virtual buttons. The 1012 receiver is integrated into a barely visible slit between the frame and the top of the display, cleverly doubling as the second stereo speaker. Beneath the glass, a fast in‑display fingerprint sensor completes the clean, minimalist front design.
The rear shell takes on the look of precision‑built machinery, with a four-sided 3D curved transparent Corning Gorilla Glass 5 revealing carefully arranged internals. Mecha‑inspired detailing adds a tactical yet refined character, complemented by the RGB atmosphere lighting around the air cooler, the REDMAGIC logo, and the air vent extends that design language into the competitive gaming realm.
The cameras, the cooling fan, and the LED flash ring form an "r" shaped group of round elements positioned in the top left corner of the rear shell. The topmost one is the main camera with the ultra-wide unit sitting to its right. The cooling fan is positioned right below the main shooter, followed by the LED flash ring. The top right corner is occupied by the REDMAGIC logo, while the REDMAGIC brand appears vertically aligned in the bottom left corner.
The bottom frame houses the dual Nano-SIM card tray with a red insulating band, the main microphone (the hole next to the SIM tray), the 1115K (main) stereo speaker, and the USB 2.0 Type-C port. The top microphone and the IR blaster are positioned on the top frame. The right frame of the device features the two shoulder triggers, a rectangular Power button, a Volume rocker, the turbofan air outlet, and the third microphone. The left frame is the home of the Magic Key, colored in red. By default, it launches GameSpace when pressed, but you can customize it from the settings and use it as a physical camera shutter, for example.
The RGB LED lights on the REDMAGIC logo, the cooling fan, and the air outlet are managed from the "Light strip" menu in the settings and are fully customizable for calls, texts, notifications, cooling, charging, alarms, media, and games. You can choose from several lighting modes - steady, breathing, flashing, and strobing. There are also eight colors - red, hot pink, yellow, light blue, orange, green, navy blue, and purple. You can also select which elements should be illuminated. There's a power-saving mode in case you want to enjoy the light effects for longer without sacrificing power.
