8849 Tank 3S by Unihertz Review
You can buy a 8849 Tank 3S by Unihertz at promotional prices from the U.S. 8849 Official Store on AliExpress.

Rear cameras

8849 Tank 3S by Unihertz has a reduced number of cameras compared to its vanilla and Pro siblings because it is deprived of the ultra-wide snapper. The main camera is now a 50MP unit using a Sony IMX766 sensor with a 1/1.56-inch optical format and a 1 μm pixel size. By default, it outputs 12 MP images thanks to the sensor's tetrapixel technology. Then there's the 8MP shooter with 3x optical zoom and autofocus, using an SK Hynix Hi-847 sensor. Both cameras can record 4K videos and are supported by the dual-tone LED flash on the back Finally, there's a 64MP OmniVision OV64B1B Night Vision camera with four infrared lights. It supports FHD video recording. Below we list photo samples from the main and telephoto cameras as well as a 4K video sample shot with the main camera.

Selfie camera

The front-facing camera of the 8849 Tank 3S by Unihertz uses a 50MP SK Hynix Hi-5022Q sensor with a 5-element lens, an f/2.25 aperture, an 80.4-degree FoV, and fixed focus. By default, it outputs 16MP photos and records FHD videos at 30 fps.

Camera App

The Camera app is simple and easy to work with. The bottom of the screen is occupied by the shutter button, the camera switch to its right, and the shortcut to the photos and videos to its left. The reel with shooting modes appears above those and the zoom levels, symbolizing the main (1x) and telephoto (3.4x) camera, are above the reel. The top of the screen is occupied by the camera settings icon mainly. Depending on the shooting mode, it includes various elements. The "Photo" mode, which is the default main one, has an icon for the LED flash, HDR, and filters. The "Video" mode has an LED flash and settings icon only. The "Night" shooting mode uses the main camera and has nothing to do with the Night Vision one. The "Timelapse" mode shoots timelapse videos with a max resolution of 1080p and also uses the main camera. The "Portrait" mode allows you to adjust the aperture and level of skin smoothing.
The "More" mode opens an additional screen containing the QR Code scanner, Pro mode, Infrared, Super Resolution, Mono, and an editor for the shooting modes. The "Infrared" mode uses the 64MP Night Vision camera and the four IR lights on the back. This camera can also record FHD videos and you can open the video recording if you click on the button to the right of the shutter. The "Pro" mode lets you adjust the white balance, ISO, exposure compensation, shutter speed, and focus type. "Super Resolution" allows you to shoot in the original resolution of the sensor of the main camera. The shooting modes editor allows you to add/remove various shooting modes in the main list and/or in the "More" section. The camera settings include many toggles for the watermark, location, ZSD, gridline, anti-shake, the straighten feature, auto screen brightness, etc. You also get mode-specific options such as picture ratio for images and EIS, microphone, video resolution, and format for video shooting.
The interface for the front camera is largely the same but contains only the "Photo", "Video", "Timelapse", and "More" shooting modes. The settings for the available shooting modes are the same as the ones for the rear camera with the addition of a Mirror toggle for selfies. The "More" section contains a "Mono" shooting mode, "Super Resolution" for snapping photos in the original sensor resolution, and a shooting modes editor. The Photos app is the default application to open and edit a photo. It arrives with Google Lens integrated and teases extra editing features available only with Google One membership.
