Battery Tests

UMIDIGI F1 packs a 5150 mAh Li-Pol battery. It cannot be removed and supports MediaTek Pump Express Plus. The device arrives with a UMIDIGI charging adapter that offers a maximum power output of 18W (5V/2A~9V/2A~12V/1.5A). All battery tests we run on the devices we review are developed by us and performed with the screen of the device being calibrated to 200 cd/m2. Battery saving features are disabled.
Charging (2 hours and 39 minutes)
Our F1 review unit needed 2 hours and 39 minutes to charge its 5150 mAh battery from 0% to 100%. The charging process is quite snappy during the first 1 hour during which the battery gains 63% of its capacity. The next 22 minutes add another 20% after which the charging speed drops and the 10% from 80% to 90% need 23 minutes to charge. After reaching 90%, charging slows down even more and the last 10% need 54 minutes to complete. The battery temperature starts at 29°C and in 13 minutes reaches 35°C. It stays at this level for 16 minutes and goes up to 37°C, maintaining this new level for 40 minutes. After that, it increases, even more, reaching 39°C. This level, however, is maintained only for 11 minutes, after which, the temperature starts to decrease and at the end measures 26°C.
Browsing (14 hours and 36 minutes)
During our intensive browsing test, the battery of our review unit lasted for 14 hours and 36 minutes. The battery discharges fairly steadily. The battery temperature starts at 26°C and in 1 hour and 2 minutes, it reaches 32°C which is maintained until the end.
1080p Video (15 hours and 18 minutes)
1920x1080, 30 fps, H.264, 20Mbps bitrate
The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate is used. Our review unit's score from this test is 15 hours and 18 minutes. Discharging is steady from the start until the battery drops to 20% of its capacity, after which it slows down a bit. The battery temperature starts at 26°C and in 1 hour reaches 32°C maintaining this level until the end with a 3-hour period from the 11th to the 14th hour, during which it drops to 29°C, stays there for a while and goes up to 32°C again.
3D Graphics/Gaming (7 hours and 5 minutes)
YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo
For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, the YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo is used. The battery of our review unit lasted for 7 hours and 5 minutes. The discharging process develops with one and the same speed from the start until the end. The battery temperature starts at 29°C and reaches 39°C in 19 minutes. It remains at this level, fluctuating between 39°C and 40°C almost until the end, with the last 20 minutes varying from 40°C to 41°C.

The above photos of our sample of UMIDIGI F1 are taken with a FLIR thermal camera. The left photo shows the device's temperature during charging. The hottest area of the smartphone is the centre of the upper half with a temperature of 42.9°C. The second hottest part is the frame where the SIM tray is, with a temperature of 42.8°C. A third hot area is the top right corner with a temperature of 40.6°C. The second photo depicts the device's temperature during our 3D battery life test. In this case, the hottest part of the device is the same one that's right off the centre of the upper half of the body with a temperature of 41.8°C. The second hottest part is the centre of the chin with a temperature of 39.8°C.

Battery Settings

The Battery menu is tweaked a bit on Android 9 Pie. The main screen displays the current battery charge, its status (charging or not), usage statistics and so on. The standby intelligent power saving toggle is preserved along with the battery saver one. The second is accompanied by "Turn off now" button - a first for the battery saver. The additional options now include only battery usage data. The battery optimization options are gone.
