Xiaomi separates Redmi as a brand, will launch the Redmi 7 on January 10thXiaomi has decided to separate the Redmi as a brand and this will start with the launch of the Redmi 7 on January 10th. The news comes from the official Xiaomi website. According to Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, the separation is done mainly because Redmi focuses on affordable smartphones which are sold primarily on e-commerce platforms. For comparison, the Mi smartphones are high-end devices that are not focused on e-commerce. The first model from the Redmi brand is the Redmi 7. The teaser poster shows that this smartphone will pack a 48MP camera but no other details are unveiled yet. We'll follow up with any further news about it until the handset gets unveiled on January 10th.
