Qualcomm unveils its latest low-midrange chipsets - the Snapdragon 632, 429, and 439Today at MWC Shanghai, Qualcomm has announced a trio of its latest mobile platforms that bring FinFET to the lower-midrange tier of mobile devices as all three platforms are manufactured following this process. The Snapdragon 632 is the most interesting of the three. It succeeds the Snapdragon 630 and closer to the Snapdragon 652, actually. The CPU houses 4x Kryo 250 cores (probably Cortex-A72) clocked at 1.8GHz and 4x Kryo 250 (Cortex-A53) clocked 1.8GHz. It provides up to 40% performance improvement over its predecessor. The CPU is complemented by an Adreno 506 GPU. There's an X9 LTE Cat. 7/13 modem on board with 4x10MHz carrier aggregation as well as a Hexagon 546 DSP. A dual ISP helps to handle the camera department and supports up to 24MP single cameras and up to 13MP dual shooters. The Snapdragon 632 is pin compatible with the 626, 625 and 450 platforms.

The Snapdragon 439 succeeds the SD435 and houses an Adreno 505 GPU, an X6 LTE Cat. 4/5 modem with 2x10MHz carrier aggregation, and a dual ISP that supports up to 8MP dual camera setups and up to 21MP single camera solutions. The platform's CPU packs a total of eight Cortex-A53 cores - four are clocked at 1.95GHz and the other four tick at 1.45GHz. The Snapdragon 429 succeeds the SD425 and has a 1.95GHz CPU consisting of four Cortex-A53 cores. It also packs an Adreno 504 GPU, the same modem as the SD439 and its dual ISP supports up to 16MP single camera solutions or up to 8MP dual camera setups. The 439 and 429 are pin compatible with each other. This software compatibility means the OEMs will launch new devices faster. All three platforms will be available in commercial devices in the second half of 2018.
