Overview

Cubot KingKong 8 bears a striking resemblance with the Cubot KingKong Power. It could be easily concluded the two smartphones are twins. There are some noteworthy differences, however, and we will mark them along with this full review of the KingKong 8. It seems the KingKong name of the series is definitely here to stay symbolizing Cubot's toughest devices that can survive most of the environmental challenges. Specifications

Cubot KingKong 8 is equiipped a 6.528-inch IPS display with an in-cell panel and an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels. The punch hole in the screen houses the 16MP Sony IMX471selfie camera with an f/2.45 aperture and a 28 mm focal length equivalent. On the rear shell, there's a trio of lenses headed by a 48MP Samsung S5KGM1 shooter with an f/1.79 aperture and a 25 mm focal length equivalent. There are also a 2MP macro unit and a VGA depth sensor. The smartphone is also fitted with two bright LED lights and a dedicated button for switching on and off this torch which delivers 5000 lumens brightness. A MediaTek MT8788V chipset ticks under the hood pairing a 2GHz octa-core CPU and a tri-core Mali-G72 GPU clocked at 800MHz. There are 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM clocked at 1800MHz on board. It can be virtually expanded with up to 6GB. The built-in storage's capacity is 256GB and it can also be expanded via a microSD card. For that purpose, the Cubot KingKong 8 is fitted with a hybrid, dual Nano-SIM card slot. Both SIM cards support 4G LTE and VoLTE simultaneously. The network bands supported by both cards are as follows: 2G GSM (2/3/5/8), 3G WCDMA (1/2/4/5/6/8/19), 4G TDD-LTE (34/38/39/40/41), and 4G FDD-LTE (1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28A/28B/66). The wireless connectivity options of the model include Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and Wi-Fi Display. The smartphone also supports NFC and works with GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou. It runs on Android 13 and is fitted with a USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTGand a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The model is IP68 and IP69K rated for being resistant to water, dust, dirt, drops.
