LG G8 ThinQ gets unveiled (again) along with the LG G8s ThinQLG has already unveiled the LG G8 ThinQ prior to this formal announcement of the handset. The focus of this handset is to offer minimalist futuristic design. For this model, LG uses a Crystal Sound OLED, which turns the smartphone's display into a speaker diaphragm thus eliminating the need for a front speaker. LG G8 ThinQ is the world's first smartphone with advanced palm vein authentication, made possible by the combination of the ToF Z Camera and infrared sensors. More secure than fingerprint recognition technology, LG's Hand ID identifies owners by recognizing the shape, thickness and other individual characteristics of the veins in the palms of their hands. The Z Camera measures infrared rays reflected off subjects to calculate depth faster and more accurately than other image sensors making secure face unlock possible. It also enables Air Motion - air gestures for remote answering or ending calls, taking screenshots, switching between applications or adjusting the volume. The front-facing camera in the LG G8 ThinQ measures the distance between the subject and the camera in millimetres to control the intensity of the background blur up to 256 levels for selfies with more depth. It is aided by auto-focus. The rear camera supports Video Portrait - real-time bokeh effect when shooting videos in portrait mode. In terms of hardware, the camera department is identical to that of the LG V50 ThinQ 5G, the only exception being the 5MP front camera which is changed for the Z Camera. LG G8 ThinQ features a 6.1-inch QHD+ OLED display. Audio quality relies on a Boombox Speaker capable of stereo output, DTS:X Surround Sound, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC. The model also supports Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology, allowing for compressed high-resolution audio streaming without compromising sound quality. A 3500 mAh battery keeps the lights on and performance relies on a SD855 SoC with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. LG G8s ThinQ packs a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display, a Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, 6GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB of built-in memory, an 8MP shooter plus a Z camera on the front, three rear shooters (13MP wide, 12MP standard, 12MP telephoto), and a 3550 mAh battery.Source
