Obi Mobiles has been renamed to Obi Worldphone and to celebrate the change, the backed-up by John Scully company released its first two models from the new brand. Both are made by the San Francisco studio Ammunition and do provide some distinctive design features. The first model is the Obi Worldphone SF1
. It sports a signature floating glass display by JDI with a 5-inch diagonal size, FHD resolution and 443ppi pixel density. It is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. "Floating" means that the display protrudes from the body, which is made of fiberglass with metal accents. Furthermore, the model packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with a Sony Exmor RS IMX214 sensor, hybrid auto-focus, f/2.0 aperture, color-preserving ChromaFlash, and an OptiZoom feature that mimics optical zoom. The front shooter has a 5-megapixel sensor. The smartphone's performance relies on a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with an Adreno 405 GPU and a 1.5GHz octa-core CPU. In terms of RAM and memory, there are two variants - 2/16GB and 3/32GB, respectively. There is also a 3000 mAh battery that supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 1.0 tech. is sure to have a reception, wherever you might end up, supporting 2G, 3G and 4G networks. The OS is Android 5.1 Lollipop with Obi Lifespeed UI on top. Moreover, the phone provides multi-channel audio with the Dolby Audio Surround 7.1 tech and noise cancelling for disruption-free calls.
The second model is the Obi Worldphone SJ1.5
. It sports a 5-inch IPS display with a 720p resolution, protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The model's design is really distinctive with a squared-off top and a curved bottom. On the back is mounted an 8-megapixel OmniVision camera with an f/2.2 aperture, while on the front sits a 5-megapixel shooter. Power is provided by a 3000 mAh battery. Performance is based on a MediaTek MT6580 chipset with a 1.3GHz CPU and a Mali 400-MP2 GPU aided by 1GB of RAM. The storage measures 16GB. This smartphone is dual-SIM as well and supports 2G and 3G networks. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Obi Lifespeed UI on top. Both smartphones are very affordable having in mind the specs.
