Apple will release two 5G iPhone models in 2020

18 Juin 2019, 23:42:57

Apple will release two 5G iPhone models in 2020According to the TF International Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo, cited by CNBC, Apple will release two 5G iPhone models in 2020. He has shared similar information back in April as well. There will be a total of three new iPhones next year, all with AMOLED display but in three different size classes - 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch. Strangely enough, the analyst says that the middle-size model won't have 5G.

The 5G modems will be provided by Qualcomm after the two tech giants settled their arguments back in April. Meanwhile, Apple is working on its own 5G chip that will be ready in 2022 or 2023 and it will rely on Qualcomm to do so. Obviously, it is trying to use the situation with Huawei's ban in its own favour. "Apple's 5G iPhone strategy became more aggressive after the U.S. export ban on Huawei," Kuo said. "We estimate that 5G iPhone will account for around 60% of total new 2H20 iPhone shipments (vs. consensus’s 20%)."Source
