Unihertz Tank Review - a new contender for the battery autonomy leader title

Performance

Unihertz Tank is based on a MediaTek Helio G99 (MT6789) chipset. Manufactured using TSMC's 6 nm process technology, this SoC was introduced in 2022. One of its advantages over older production nodes is the increased power efficiency. The chipset offers an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. An ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU with two cores clocked up to 1000MHz handles the graphics department. There are 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM clocked at 2133 MHz and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage onboard. Of those 256GB, 241GB are available to the user. The built-in storage cannot be expanded. Another smartphone reviewed by us and based on the Helio G99 chipse is the Ulefone Armor 17 Pro. Our Unihertz Tank review unit scored 379,528 points on AnTuTu 9 which beats the Armor 17 Pro result by 13K points. Moreover, interms of AnTutu results, the Helio G95 is clearly positioned among smartphones based on the Samsung Exynos 9 9810 and Snapdragon 695 chipsets. The single-core and multi-core Geekbench 5 results also show a solid performance level and place it among devices based on the Dimensity 700 and the Snapdragon 730G chipsets. The PCMark Work 3.0 result supports these findings, too. The Sling Shot and Wild Life result from the 3DMark set of tests are also very close to those of the other smartphones based on the same SoC.
