Ulefone Armor 27T Pro Review

Display

The Ulefone Armor 27T Pro uses a display panel that's been on all the latest smartphones from the Armor series - a 6.78-inch IPS unit with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate. You can manually set it to 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, or choose the dynamic refresh rate. In this way, the device decides which mode to choose depending on the content. The screen is covered with a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It has an oleophobic coating and supports touch input when you're wearing gloves. The latter has to be explicitly activated from the Gloves Mode option in Settings => Special function. Our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display are published below. If you follow our smartphone reviews, you already know that for a more realistic result, we make two different measurements - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

The Armor 27T Pro display is very bright just like the screens of its predecessors. Still, compared to the Armor 27 Pro, it offers a slightly higher typical and peak brightness, while achieving a lower and more agreeable temperature of the white point - 8700-9000 K. The maximum display brightness of the Armor 27T Pro is 752.97 cd/m² vs 730.963 cd/m² for the Armor 27 Pro. This brightness is achieved during the two-separate-frames measurement. In the other type of measurement on a 50% white and a 50% black screen, we measured a maximum white luminance of 638.689 cd/m² vs 561.357 cd/m² for the non-thermal camera model. The contrast ratio is near 1500:1 for both types of measurement.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display of the Armor 27T Pro is not uniformly bright but in all three tiers, it is slightly brighter than that of the Armor 27 Pro. The top third of the screen delivers an average brightness of 699.3 nits. The temperature of the white point is in the 8700-8900 K range. The middle one-third is the brightest with an average brightness of 742.86 nits and a temperature of the white point around 9000 K. The bottom third od the display is the least bright with an average of 693 nits and a temperature of the white point around 9000 K. The CIE diagram shows that the display covers slightly more than 100% of the sRGB color space. While the blue, magenta, pink, and partially red hues are covered correctly, the cyan, green, yellow, orange, and some red hues look punchier. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
