Display

Cubot KingKong AX has a 6.583-inch in-cell IPS display with an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2408). The display supports refresh rates of 120Hz, 90Hz, and 60 Hz. You can select which of the three to be used from the Display Settings. They also allow you to adjust the brightness level, switch on/off the adaptive brightness, dark theme, and night light toggles, manage the lock screen, select the color mode, wallpaper, screen saver, and others. This smartphone has a color secondary rear display on the rear shell. It is touch-sensitive and allows you to check the battery status, control the music player, check your step count, receive messages and notifications, use it for camera preview, and even snap photos with the front and/or rear camera

Our usual measurements of the main display including the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature are published below. If you follow our smartphone reviews, you already know that for a more realistic result, we make two different measurements - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

The maximum brightness of the display of the KingKong AX we have is 532.703 cd/m2 measured in the center of a fully white screen. This is a good brightness for outdoor usage. The black luminance measured on a fully black screen is 4 nits. At the same time, the maximum white and black luminances on a screen that shows 50% white and 50% black, measure 452.661 cd/m2 and 3.5 nits, respectively. These measurements reveal a classic "behavior" of the IPS display panel with a higher brightness delivered on two separate frames and a lower one on a single frame showing 50% white and 50% black. The static contrast ratio in both cases is around 1700:1 and the temperature of the white point is in the 8800 K - 9500 K range.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display of the KingKong AX is very close to offering great brightness uniformity. The top one-third of the screen has an average brightness of around 524 nits and a temperature of the white point of around 9000 K. The middle one-third has an average brightness of around 533 nits and a temperature of the white point from 9300 K. Finally, the bottom one-third has an average brightness of 529 nits. The temperature of the white point at this tier is 9400-9800 K.
The CIE diagram shows that the display covers more than 100% of the sRGB color space meaning you will get punchier colors. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
