Ulefone Armor 25T 4G Review

Display

The 6.78-inch IPS display panel with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate is used on most of the latest Ulefone Armor smartphones. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It has an oleophobic coating to minimize fingerprint traces and supports glove touch. The latter is a feature that has to be explicitly activated from the "Special function" menu in the "Settings" app. The "Display" menu contains the standard options for theme mode, adaptive brightness, auto-rotate screen, display size and text, lock screen, wallpaper, and style. From here you can also manually set the refresh rate - 60Hz, 90Hz, or 120Hz. The LED notification lights options are also listed in this menu as well as the option to hide the screen's top as if a notch is disabled. The display of the Armor 25T Pro is one of the brightest we've tested and it is comfortable to use it outdoors in broad daylight. Our usual measurements of the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature of the display are published below. If you follow our smartphone reviews, you already know that for a more realistic result, we make two different measurements - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

The maximum display brightness of the Armor 25T is 778.885 cd/m² measured from the center on a fully white screen. This level is higher than the top brightness of the 5G model - around 711 nits. The measurement on a 50% white and a 50% black screen yields a maximum white luminance of almost 725 cd/m². There's a difference of 55 nits between the two but the contrast ratios from both are very close - around 1350:1 thanks to the proportional differences in the black luminance from both measurements. The temperature of the white point is around 8700-9300 K and is slightly lower than the one of the Armor 25T Pro 5G we tested.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display of the Armor 25T 4G is not uniformly bright and follows the same pattern as that of the Armor 25T Pro 5G display but with a higher average brightness for the tier and a lower temperature of the white point. The top one-third of the screen is the least bright with an average brightness of 686 nits and a temperature of the white point of around 8700 K. The middle one-third is the brightest with an average brightness of around 763 nits and a temperature of the white point of around 9000 K. Finally, the bottom one-third has an average brightness of 727 nits, and the temperature of the white point at this tier is around 9400 K. The CIE diagram of the display of our Armor 25T 4G unit is exactly the same as the CIE diagram of the display of our Armor 25T Pro 5G unit. It shows that the display covers slightly more than 100% of the sRGB color space. While the blue, magenta, pink, and partially red hues are covered correctly, the cyan, green, yellow, and orange hues look punchier. The display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
