Ulefone Armor 25T 4G Review

Battery Tests

Ulefone Armor 25T is powered by a 6500 mAh Li-Pol battery - the same one fueling its 5G sibling. According to the manufacturer, it should provide the same talk and standby time as the 5G model greatly thanks to the identical display, battery, software, and two chipsets that perform on par. The unit supports 33W fast wired charging, 30W fast wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. We have developed all battery life tests we run on the smartphones and tablets we review. They are performed with the device's screen being calibrated to 200 cd/m². Battery-saving features are disabled. All test results and battery life comparisons are below. It took 1 hour and 50 minutes with the provided USB cable and charger to charge the Armor 25T in full from 0%. The Armor 25T Pro 5G needed only a minute more to charge its battery with the same charger and cable. The charging process is extremely fast during the first 15 minutes when the battery regains 30% of its charge. It continues to charge rapidly and during the next 20 minutes, the battery regains a total of 60% of its charge. It takes an additional 15 minutes to reach 70% and 1 hour and 5 minutes more to charge the battery in full. During this last stage, the process is very slow. The battery temperature starts at 35°C and jumps to 51°C in 12 minutes. It remains at this level for 28 minutes and begins to decrease, measuring 32°C at the end. During our intensive browsing test with the refresh rate set at 60Hz, the battery of our Armor 25T lasted for 16 hours and 18 minutes. For comparison, The 5G model showed a result of 16 hours and 7 minutes. The discharging process has a slow start and a slow end but these are not prolonged - no more than 20 minutes each. The process in between develops steadily. The battery temperature starts at 28°C, reaches 35°C at the third hour, remains at this level for 2 hours and a half, and starts decreasing slowly, measuring 31°C at the end. With the screen's refresh rate set at 90Hz, the battery of the Armor 25T lasted for 13 hours and 20 minutes. The 5G model recorded 12 hours and 45 minutes on this test. The discharging process closely follows the pattern from the browsing test at 60Hz. The battery temperature starts at 28°C, reaches 35°C in 2 hours and a half, and after another 2 hours, it goes up to 36°C, maintaining the 35-36°C level until the end. With the screen's refresh rate set at 120Hz, the battery of the Armor 25T lasted for 11 hours and 38 minutes. For comparison, the 25T Pro 5G had a result of 11 hours. The discharging process draws a curve that's almost identical to the one of the previous tests. The battery temperature starts at 29°C, hits 38°C in 1 hour and a half, remaining at this level until the end. The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate. The Ulefone Armor 25T battery lasted for 16 hours and 52 minutes in this test. The 5G model recorded a result of 17 hours and 41 minutes. The discharging process demonstrates the same behavior as the one observed during the browsing test. It has a slow start and ending, with a steady middle. The battery temperature starts at 28°C, increases to 34°C in an hour and a half, and remains at this level for 3 hours. After that, it begins to decrease slowly and three hours later, it drops to 32°C, remaining at this level until the end. The 4K video battery life test uses a 2160p video at 30 fps with a ~55 Mbps rate. In this test, the battery of the Ulefone Armor 25T lasted for 14 hours and 18 minutes. That's a significantly higher result than the one of the 5G model which recorded 5 hours and 18 minutes. The discharging process follows the same pattern as the one during the 1080p video test. The battery temperature starts at 35°C and in half an hour increases to 45°C, remaining at this level for four hours. After that, it increases to 46-47°C, remaining at this level until the end. For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, Real Racing 3 is used. The result from this test is 9 hours and 49 minutes. The discharging process sticks to its established pattern of a slow start and a slow end. The battery temperature starts at 33°C and fluctuates until the end between 33°C and 34°C, demonstrating no stress whatsoever during 4K video reproduction. The above photos of the Ulefone Armor 25T are taken with a FLIR thermal camera. The upper photo shows the device's temperature during charging. The hottest spots are two, each with a temperature of 36.6°C. The first one is close to the right frame in the upper half of the body and the second is near the middle at the left frame. The second photo shows the device during our 3D Graphics/Gaming test. In this case, the hottest part is the center of the chin with a temperature of 41.5°C.

Battery Settings

The Battery menu retains the design and layout used by Ulefone on its latest models. As usual, it provides information about the current battery and usage data. There is the Battery Saver with an on/off toggle and options for scheduling. The Battery Manager is third. It detects apps that are draining the battery significantly and issues a notification with the option for you to restrict those apps. Finally, there's the battery percentage toggle that displays/hides the charge level in the battery icon on the status bar, followed by a toggle for booting on when you're charging during power off. The "Apps" menu from the "Settings" app allows you to optimize the battery usage for each app you have installed on the device.
