Cubot KingKong 11 Display

Cubot KingKong 11 is adorned with a 6.72-inch IPS display with an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2400) and Gorilla Glass for protection. It supports refresh rates of 120Hz, 90Hz, and 60Hz. You can also choose an automatic refresh rate setting, which allows the device to switch between the refresh rates depending on the content and app you're using. The KingKong 11 also has a secondary display on its back. It has a round shape with a 1.46-inch diameter and a resolution of 360 x 360 px. The sub-display is touch-sensitive and allows you to check the battery status, the notifications, control the music player, check your step count, check the calendar, use it for camera preview, and even snap photos with the front and/or rear camera. This display has a dedicated menu in the Settings app dubbed MiniScreen.

Our usual measurements of the main display, including the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature, are published below. If you follow our smartphone reviews, you already know that for a more realistic result, we make two different measurements - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black, and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

The maximum brightness of the display of the KingKong 11 we have is 599.961 cd/m2 measured in the top-center of a fully white screen. This is a good brightness for outdoor usage. The black luminance measured on a fully black screen is 0.355 cd/m2 and as a result the contrast ratio is nearing 1650:1. At the same time, the maximum white and black luminances on a screen that shows 50% white and 50% black, measure 397.153 cd/m2 and 0.328 nits, respectively, and the static contrast ratio in that case is around 1200:1. These measurements reveal a classic "behavior" of the IPS display panel with a higher brightness delivered on two separate frames and a lower one on a single frame showing 50% white and 50% black. The temperature of the white point is in the 8500 K - 9000 K range.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display of the KingKong 11 leads to an interesting observation regarding brightness uniformity. The top and middle one-third of the screen are very uniformly bright, maintaining high-brightness levels around 595 and 590 nits, respectively. However, the bottom one-third has a significantly lower brightness - around 510 nits. The temperature of the white point is in the 8800 K - 9200 K range.
The CIE diagram shows that the display has a wider color space coverage, nearly 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, meaning you all hues look more saturated. The IPS display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
