Overview

With the Doogee Mix, BL7000 and the upcoming Doogee Mix 2 and BL12000, Doogee is definitely on the path to stable growth. In addition to the Mix series that features smartphones with full screens and various advanced features and the BL series of devices with big batteries, Doogee has created the S series, which is dedicated to rugged smartphones. This review explores the Doogee S30 - a good looking rugged smartphone on a budget that currently retails at around USD 130.

Specifications

Doogee S30 sports a 5-inch IPS screen with an HD resolution (720 x 1280 pixels). The type of protective glass is not specified. The dust-tight and waterproof body (IP68) combines metal, kevlar and plastic. Hardware-wise, the model is based on a MediaTek MT6737V chipset that houses four 1.25GHz Cortex-A53 CPU cores and a dual-core 600MHz Mali-T720 MP2 GPU. There are 2GB of single-channel, LPDDR3 RAM, clocked at 640MHz on board. The internal memory measures 16GB and can be expanded. The camera department features an 8MP GalaxyCore GC8024 rear camera coupled with a 3MP secondary rear shooter. The GC8024 sensor is combined with an f/2.4 lens. The front-facing camera is equipped with a 5MP GalaxyCore GC5025 sensor and an 87-degree wide-angle lens with an f/2.8 aperture. A 5580 mAh battery keeps the lights on. It is combined with a 5V/2A fast charger. Doogee S30 supports the following network bands: 2G GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 3G WCDMA (900, 2100 MHz), and 4G LTE-FDD (800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz). 4G speeds are Cat. 4 ones. The S30 supports GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, HotKnot, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct. The device has a Micro-USB 2.0 port with OTG support and a 3.5 mm jack.
