Battery Tests

Oukitel K9 is equipped with a 6000 mAh Li-Pol battery. It is non-removable and is coupled with a 5V/6A fast charger. All battery tests we run on the devices we review are developed by us and performed with the screen of the device being calibrated to 200 cd/m2. Battery saving features are disabled.
Charging (1 hour and 36 minutes)
It took our review unit 1 hour and 36 minutes to charge from 0% to 100% with the provided USB Type-C cable and fast charger. This complies with Oukitel's data that the battery can be charged from zero to 100% in an hour and a half. The charging speed is very fast until the battery gains 55% of its capacity. This happens in 37 minutes. After that, charging slows down and even more so after 70% is reached. The battery temperature starts at 33°C and in 30 minutes reaches its peak of 46°C degrees. It maintains this level for 7 minutes, after which it starts decreasing and at the end measures 32°C.
Browsing (12 hours and 51 minutes)
During our intensive browsing test, the battery of our review unit lasted for 12 hours and 51 minutes. The discharging process has quite a distinctive pattern. The battery needs 1 hour and 20 minutes to drop by 1% - from 100% to 99%°C. After that, discharging speeds up and maintains a steady pace until the end. The battery temperature starts at 31°C and in 1 hour and 20 minutes, reaches 35°C. A few minutes later it goes up to 36°C and remains at that level until the end.
1080p Video (16 hours and 27 minutes)
1920x1080, 30 fps, H.264, 20Mbps bitrate
The video test for battery life uses a 1080p video at 30 fps with a ~20Mbps rate is used. Our review unit's score from this test is 16 hours and 27 minutes. The discharging process develops slowly for the first 1 hour and 25 minutes during which the battery loses only 1% of its capacity. Afterwards, the discharging speed increases and develops steadily until the end. The battery temperature starts at 29°C and after 1 hour and 25 minutes, it reaches 33°C. After another 1 hour and 42 minutes, it increases to 34°C and remains there until the end with minor fluctuations towards the end.
3D Graphics/Gaming (9 hours and 39 minutes)
YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo
For the 3D Graphics/Gaming test, the YEBIS OpenGL ES 3.0 3D Tech Demo is used. The battery depletes in 9 hours and 39 minutes. The discharging process is very slow in the beginning. The battery capacity drops by 1% for 43 minutes. After that, discharging gains speed and maintains a relatively steady speed until the end. - it develops with one and the same speed from the start until the end. The battery temperature starts at 33°C and in 43 minutes reaches 38°C. During the next half an hour it fluctuates between 37-38°C remaining at 37°C for 2 hours and 33 minutes. After that, it increases to 38°C, stays there for 4 hours and goes up to 39°C which is maintained until the end.

The above photos of our Oukitel K9 review unit are taken with a FLIR thermal camera. The left photo shows the device's temperature during charging. The hottest area, in this case, is the area of the charging port where the temperature measures 40.8°C. The cable is hotter at 46.5°C. The second photo depicts the device's temperature during our 3D battery life test. In this case, the device gets warm in the right part of the upper half of the body. The peak temperature there is 36.2°C.

Battery Settings

The Battery menu is a typical Android 9 Pie one. It gives information about the battery's current capacity, charging/not charging status, battery usage data. The usual Standby intelligent power saving toggle is preserved along with the Battery saver one. The second is accompanied by "Turn off now" button which appeared for the first time in Android 9. The app-specific battery optimization options are gone but can still be accessed from the Special app access list in the App & Notifications group of settings. A Battery Percentage toggle is provided as well along with battery usage data. The battery management features are enhanced by the System Manager application which contains a Power Manager. The latter includes two toggles for a Super power-saving mode and a Smart-saving mode. The Super power-saving mode has three sub-options - smart power, long standby and superpower. You can customize the smart power settings only. If the Smart-saving mode is switched on, it will auto-activate after the battery capacity drops to a certain level of your choice - 10%, 20% or 30%.
