Oukitel K12 Review

Overview

Within a short timeframe, Oukitel has released two new models from its most successful series of smartphones - the K one. Oukitel K9 is the first of the duo. It is aiming at users who are looking for a big display, good battery life and reasonable performance all available at an affordable price. Oukitel K12, which is the subject of this review, has just been released as well. It brings back a feature that made Oukitel famous on the first place - a huge 10000 mAh battery, which paired to a very efficient system-on-chip provides impressive autonomy. If you're looking for a smartphone with the latest software, up-to-date features and a battery with the capacity of a power bank, Oukitel K12 might be just right for you. And don't worry about charging, it arrives with a 30W fast charger.
You can buy Oukitel K12 at a promotional price from Oukitel's official store on AliExpress or GearBest. More information can be found on Oukitel's website

Specifications

Oukitel K12 is built around a 6.3-inch IPS display with a 5-point multitouch panel and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It is covered with flat protective glass and offers a brightness of 500 cd/m2. The frame is made of brushed aluminium and tough polycarbonate, while the backplate is covered with real leather. A MediaTek Helio P35 (MT6765) chipset powers the smartphone with its octa-core CPU clocked up to 2.3GHz and a 680 MHz PowerVR GE8320 GPU. There are 6GB of LPDDR4X double-channel RAM clocked at 1600 MHz on board and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 built-in storage that can be expanded with up to 128GB. A beefy 10,000 mAh battery ensures up to 31 days of standby time. It is coupled with a 5V/6A (30W) fast charger and the smartphone itself can serve as a power bank. It arrives with a convenient OTG cable.

The camera department of Oukitel K12 is identical to the one of Oukitel K9. It comprises of three cameras - one on the front and two on the back. The first is equipped with an 8MP GalaxyCore GC8034 image sensor and an f/2.0 lens. It supports face unlock. The main rear camera combines a 16MP Sony IMX298 image sensor with an f/1.8 lens and PDAF. It is accompanied by a 2MP depth-sensing unit, most probably with a GalaxyCore CG2035/2145 sensor. They are aided by a dual-tone LED flash and there's a fingerprint sensor located below the two shooters. As long as it concerns the model's connectivity options, it supports dual 4G with LTE Cat. 6 speeds. K12 works with the following network bands: 2G GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 3G W-CDMA (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz), and 4G LTE (700 MHz Class 17, 800, 850, 900, 1700/2100, 1800, 1900, 2100, 2600, 700 (B12), 800 (B19)) networks with Cat. 6 LTE speeds. The wireless connectivity options of K12 include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Display, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2. The smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie and works with GPS and GLONASS. It has a USB Type-C 2.0 port with OTG support and there's no 3.5 mm jack, which is compensated by including a headphone adapter in the box. A connectivty feature that sets the K12 and K9 apart is the NFC feature enabled on K12 and lacking on K9.
