Display

Cubot KingKong X has a 6.583-inch in-cell IPS display with an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2408). The display supports refresh rates of 120Hz, 90Hz, and 60 Hz. You can select which of the three to be used from the Display Settings. The same display panel is used on the KingKong AX that was launched earlier. Similarly, the KingKong X also has a secondary display on its back. It has a rectangular form with rounded corners. It is touch-sensitive and allows you to check the battery status, the notifications, control the music player, check your step count, check the calendar, use it for camera preview, and even snap 8MP photos with the front and/or rear camera This display has a dedicated menu in the Settings app dubbed MiniScreen. Our usual measurements of the main display including the white and black luminance, static contrast ratio, and color temperature are published below. If you follow our smartphone reviews, you already know that for a more realistic result, we make two different measurements - on a single frame that displays 50% white and 50% black and on two separate frames displaying a fully white and a fully black screen.

The maximum brightness of the display of the KingKong X we have is 535.051 cd/m² measured in the center of a fully white screen. This is a good brightness for outdoor usage and corresponds to the levels delivered by the KingKong AX. The black luminance measured on a fully black screen is 4.268 cd/m². At the same time, the maximum white and black luminances on a screen that shows 50% white and 50% black, measure 424.992 cd/m² and 3.234 nits, respectively. These measurements reveal a classic "behavior" of the IPS display panel with a higher brightness delivered on two separate frames and a lower one on a single frame showing 50% white and 50% black. The two separate frames measurement also shows a higher contrast ratio 2151:1 against 1635:1. The temperature of the white point is in the 9600 K - 10500 K range.

Our brightness uniformity measurement shows that the display of the KingKong X offers almost perfect brightness uniformity. The top one-third of the screen has an average brightness of around 532.3 nits and a temperature of the white point of around 10100 K. The middle one-third has an average brightness of around 533.4 nits and a temperature of the white point from 10300 K. Finally, the bottom one-third has an average brightness of 536.6 nits. The temperature of the white point at this tier is from 10200 K to 10500 K. The CIE diagram shows that the display covers more than 100% of the sRGB color space meaning you will get punchier colors from all hues. The IPS display panel has a traditional vertical striped RGB subpixel arrangement.
