Design, build and controls

AGM H6's most attractive feature is its design. Indeed, when we got it out of the box everyone in the office was genuinely impressed by how thin and lightweight it is. Especially, when it does not compromise on rugged design and qualities. The handset is 10.75 mm thick and weighs only 240 grams, which is rarely seen in the realm of ruggedized smartphones. Still, it is IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certified meaning it is water- and dust-resistant, and can withstand most environmental hazards and impacts such as drops from up to 1.8 m of height. AGM guarantees a meticulously engineered, gap-free construction for unparalleled durability with its gap-free design. The model is available in black color only. Its outline is classic for a rugged device but with a softer feel. The rear shell is made of tough polycarbonate that has a dual-style texture - one resembles metal and the other resembles aramid fiber. They interchange in a thick striped diagonal pattern that's very attractive on one hand, while on the other - it's very practical because it ensures a steady grip, prevents slipping from flat surfaces, and does not attract fingerprints. There's a rectangular camera module with curved corners positioned in the top left corner of the rear shell. The entire frame is covered with shock-absorbing TPU and the corners are additionally enforced to withstand drops. The 2.5D curved display on the front is additionally protected by the polycarbonate casing that protrudes from the glass surface at the four corners of the screen to protect it if the device drops display-side on a flat surface. Moreover, the so called Floating Frame protrudes 0.4 mm from the display's surface offering an extra layer of protection. The V-notch houses the 8MP selfie camera. There's a LED notification light placed right to its left, while the proximity and light sensors are positioned on the top bezel to the right of the camera. Speaking of bezels, we have to point out that the AGM H6 has very thin bezels for a rugged smartphone - 3 mm at the top, 2 mm on the sides, and 5 mm at the bottom. The top frame of the handset has a 3.5 mm headphone jack protected by an insulating cap attached to the frame with a screw. The left corner of the handset that's next to it has a lanyard hole. The earpiece is positioned in the center above the top bezel. The bottom frame houses the waterproof loudspeaker, a microphone, and the USB Type-C port - also protected by an insulating cap, attached to the frame with a screw. The two side frames are partially covered with metal plates and shock-absorbing TPU. The metal parts are attached to the chassis with visible screws. The triple slot for two Nano SIM cards and a microSD card is positioned on the left frame. It can be easily plucked out without a special tool. A customizable physical button in orange color is placed below the SIM tray. The right frame is the home of the Volume rocker that has a striped pattern on its surface for a better tactile experience. It sits above the power button which also has an embedded fingerprint reader. The power button sits in an indented area of the frame, which makes it somewhat hard to locate with fingers. On several occasions, we had to look and make sure, we're hitting the right spot.
