Performance

Cubot KingKong X arrives with MediaTek Dimensity 7050 (MT6877V) chipset. This SoC is a re-branded Dimensity 1080, a variant of the Dimensity 900 (MT6877) and the Dimensity 920 (MT6877T). The Dimensity 7050 / Dimensity 1080 comprises an octa-core CPU with two 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 cores and six 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 cores as well as a quad-core ARM Mali-G68 GPU clocked at 950 MHz. The KingKong X arrives with 16GB of quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM clocked at 2750 MHz. This can be virtually expanded with another 16GB. The built-in UFS 3.1 storage capacity measures 256 GB or 512 GB. It can be expanded via a microSD card slot in the hybrid, dual-SIM tray. We are reviewing a 256GB version. Of the 256GB on board, 243GB are available to the user before app and software updates (if any). Our review unit scored 598,340 points on AnTuTu 10 which is an excellent result for this chipset. It also marks a significant improvement in the results of devices based on the Dimensity 900 and Dimensity 920 chipset despite the small difference in CPU and GPU clock rate. This result puts the Dimensity 7050 on par with the AnTuTu results of the Snapdragon 778G. The single-core and multi-core results from the Geekbench 6 tests also demonstrate the improvement of the Dimensity 7050 / 1080 over the Dimensity 920 / 900 chipsets bringing them closer to that of the Snapdragon 778G and the Dimensity 8020.
