Rear cameras

Cubot Max 2 has two rear cameras - a 2MP auxiliary one for depth sensing and a 12MP main camera with a Sony IMX486 sensor and a 6-element lens with an f/1.8 aperture. The sensor has a 1/2.9" optical format and a 1.25 μm pixel size. It takes photos with a resolution of 4032 x 3024 pixels and 1080p videos at 30 fps. This sensor is used by the cameras of three smartphones we have already reviewed: Xiaomi Mi A2, Xiaomi Redmi S2 and Doogee BL9000.

Selfie camera

This smartphone has an 8MP front-facing camera with unknown sensor and a 4-element lens with an f/2.2 aperture. It takes photos with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels and shoots 1080p videos at 11 fps.

Camera App

The Camera application offers a no-frills experience. At the bottom of the screen, there's the shutter button with the shortcut to the list of photos and videos to its left. Above it, you will see the reel of available shooting modes that include Picture (default), Video, Mono, Beauty (three groups, each with a slider), Bokeh (the only time the 2MP sensor gets some action), Night and Pro mode (ISO, white balance and exposure adjustment). On the top of the screen, the settings icon, flash icon and camera switch icon are positioned. The photo settings include optional scene selection, white balance, ISO, anti-flicker, photo resolution, self-timer, etc. The video settings include an EIS toggle, video resolution, etc. The front-facing camera supports Picture, Video, Mono and Beauty mode. All else is pretty much the same.
