Nvidia Shield tablet with an 8-inch display and Tegra K1-32 chipset is officialAt the end of May Nvidia announced it is withdrawing from the smartphone market in order to focus on tablets and other devices that require the best hardware for optimum graphics performance and mainly gaming devices based on Android. The first and long-expected Shield Tablet by Nvidia is already a fact. This is an 8-inch slate with a 1920 x 1200 resolution of its IPS display. It also features the company's powerful Tegra K1-32 chipset, which integrates a dual-core Cortex A15 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz, a 192-core Nvidia Kepler GPU clocked at 950 MHz as well as 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. There are two variants of the model - a 16GB Wi-Fi one and a 32GB Wi-Fi + 4G LTE. This set-up makes it an impressively powerful device for streaming 4K videos via a micro HDMI port as well as for playing games with heavy graphics. The Nvidia GameStream technology allows streaming of games from a GeForce GTX-powered PC. The package includes a GPU enhanced passive stylus (DirectStylus 2), which together with Nvidia's Dabbler app can be used for drawing. Both cameras of the device are equipped with 5-megapixel sensors. The 6700 mAh battery is said to provide 10 hours of 720p video playback and 2 to 4 hours of gaming depending on the graphics. The Nvidia Shield tablet has a compatible controller, which costs an extra $59 and is connected to the device via Wi-Fi for less latency compared to a Bluetooth connection. The tablet can be connected to four controllers at one and the same time. Its 16Gb version costs $299 and the 32GB on is sold for $399. It will be available in the US within the next few weeks and in Europe it will be sold from August on.Kaynakça
