Samsung unveils Exynos 2600, the indystry's first 2nm GAA mobile processor

The new chipset promises sweeping improvements across CPU performance, on‑device AI, graphics capabilities, camera processing, and thermal efficiency, positioning it as a flagship‑class SoC for upcoming premium smartphones.
At the heart of the Exynos 2600 is a redesigned deca‑core CPU featuring Arm's latest C1‑Ultra and C1‑Pro cores, paired with Arm's v9.3 architecture. Samsung says the new configuration replaces the traditional "big‑middle‑little" layout by upgrading the previous generation’s little cores into more capable middle cores, broadening the performance envelope while improving efficiency. Internal testing shows up to a 39% boost in overall CPU computing performance, alongside gains in power efficiency thanks to support for Arm’s Scalable Matrix Extension 2 (SME2) for faster on‑device machine learning workloads.
AI performance is one of the Exynos 2600's headline features. The upgraded NPU delivers a 113% improvement in generative AI processing compared to the Exynos 2500, enabling larger and more complex on‑device models for tasks such as intelligent image editing, real‑time assistance, and privacy‑preserving offline AI functions. Samsung has also introduced hardware‑backed hybrid Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC), a first for mobile SoCs, strengthening long‑term device security as AI workloads grow more sophisticated.
Gaming sees an equally dramatic leap with the new Xclipse 960 GPU, which doubles computing performance over its predecessor and improves ray tracing capabilities by up to 50%. Samsung's ENSS (Exynos Neural Super Sampling) technology brings AI‑driven resolution upscaling and frame generation, enabling gameplay that appears up to three times smoother even under tight power constraints. The GPU’s refined power domain structure further extends sustained performance during demanding sessions.
Photography and video processing also receive a major overhaul. The Exynos 2600 introduces an AI‑based Visual Perception System capable of recognizing fine‑grained details - including eye blinks - in real time while reducing ISP power consumption by up to 50%. New deep‑learning video noise reduction improves low‑light footage, and support for cameras up to 320MP, along with the adoption of the APV codec, pushes mobile imaging toward professional‑grade detail and color accuracy.
Thermal management is another area where Samsung is breaking new ground. The Exynos 2600 debuts the Heat Path Block (HPB), the first of its kind in a mobile SoC, designed to optimize heat transfer and reduce thermal resistance by up to 16%. Combined with High‑k EMC materials, the system helps maintain stable performance under heavy loads such as high‑end gaming and intensive AI processing.
The move to a 2nm GAA process underpins the chip's overall efficiency gains. Samsung notes that improvements span every major subsystem - from CPU and GPU to ISP and NPU - reflecting a holistic push toward higher performance per watt. The processor supports LPDDR5X memory, UFS 4.1 storage, 4K/WQUXGA displays at 120Hz, and 8K video encoding at 30fps, rounding out a flagship‑ready feature set.
