Performance

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is equipped with a Snapdragon 845 chipset, built after the Samsung's 10LLP FinFETT process and is the first to use the DynamIQ big.LITTLE CPU architecture. The CPU consists of four 2.8GHz Kryo 385 (gold) cores and four 1.8GHz Kryo 385 (silver) cores. The first are derivatives of ARM's Cortex-A75 cores and the second - of ARM's Cortex-A55 cores. A 710MHz Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU manages the graphics department. The Snapdragon 845 also employs the Hexagon 685 DSP that offers a tri-fold improvement in AI performance and neural network processing tasks. The RAM is LPDDR4X, clocked at 1866MHz and can be 6GB, 8GB, or even 10GB (on the Forbidden City Special Edition only). There UFS 2.1 storage measures 128GB or 256GB. Our review unit employs 8GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in memory. Actually, not all colour variants are available in all RAM+storage configurations. The black variant is available in all three configurations but the emerald and sapphire blue colours are available only in the 8GB+128GB variant. Other smartphones that we have reviewed and are based on the Snapdragon 845 mobile platform are Xiaomi Mi 8, OnePlus 6, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, OnePlus 6T. Our review unit is an average performer compared to the other smartphones based on the same chipset. The 6.x.x AnTuTu score is 227005 points and the 7.x.x AnTuTu score measures 295963 points. The single-core and multi-core results from the Geekbench 4 test are the lowest ones among those from Snapdragon 845 devices. The GFX Bench ran excellently and showed results that are typical for this SoC. The same applies to the 3DMark and PCMark test results. The Androbench results are typical for a smartphone with UFS 2.1 type of storage. Of the 256GB of memory on board the device, 240GB are available to the user.
