Vivo iQOO 15 Ultra storms in the flagship area with confidenceAdd DeviceSpecifications as a preferred source on GoogleIn a market drowning in incremental upgrades and timid design choices, Vivo's iQOO has decided to swing for the fences. The newly announced iQOO 15 Ultra reads less like a smartphone and more like a manifesto: bigger numbers, bolder engineering, and a clear message that raw performance is still very much alive, no matter how loudly the industry insists on "AI-first" narratives.

The device arrives with a 6.85‑inch AMOLED display that pushes a 144 Hz refresh rate - a spec most brands quietly abandoned in favor of battery‑friendly compromises. iQOO clearly didn't get that memo. The screen hits a sharp 1440 x 3168 px resolution and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, making it one of the few mainstream phones still treating visual fidelity as a priority rather than a checkbox. The display is also made for gaming and the immersive experience is guaranteed through the powerful stereo speakers and super-sensitive shoulder triggers.

Under the hood, the company drops all pretenses of subtlety. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform is clocked aggressively at up to 4.6 GHz. It's the kind of configuration that suggests iQOO expects its users to push the phone hard. This impression is further enhanced by the advanced cooling system that features a built-in cooling fan. RAM options climb to a borderline of 24GB, while storage tops out at 1TB using UFS 4.1. There's no microSD slot, but at this point, that feels like a formality rather than a limitation.

The camera system is equally unapologetic. A trio of 50MP sensors - a Sony super‑stabilized main, a periscope telephoto, and an ultra‑wide - positions the iQOO 15 Ultra as a device that refuses to pick a photographic specialty. It wants to do everything, from 100x digital zoom to 8K video, and it wants to do it without compromise. Even the front camera, at 32MP, feels like a statement that selfies deserve flagship treatment too.

Battery life is another area where iQOO seems determined to outmuscle the competition. The 7400 mAh cell is enormous by modern standards, and pairing it with 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging makes the phone feel like a power‑user's dream rather than a delicate slab that needs constant babysitting. The company claims up to 23.7 days of standby time - a number that sounds almost nostalgic in an era where most flagships struggle to a lot less.

Connectivity is equally maximalist. Full‑band 5G support, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth with every modern codec from aptX Lossless to LDAC, dual‑frequency GPS, NFC, and a USB 3.2 Gen1 Type‑C port round out a spec sheet that reads like iQOO simply refused to leave anything out. Even the sensor array is exhaustive, including dual color temperature sensors, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and a full suite of environmental and motion sensors.

OriginOS 6, based on Android 16, powers the experience. While the software remains polarizing among international users, there’s no denying that iQOO has optimized it for speed. The company's Jovi assistant and a suite of preinstalled apps may raise eyebrows, but they also reflect a brand that knows its domestic audience and isn’t afraid to lean into its ecosystem.

Pricing starts at 5699 yuan for the 16GB/256GB model and climbs to 7699 yuan for the top 24GB/1TB configuration. In a world where flagship phones routinely cross the $1,200 mark, iQOO's pricing strategy feels almost confrontational - a reminder that premium hardware doesn't need to be paired with premium inflation.

The iQOO 15 Ultra is not subtle, not restrained, and not interested in playing by the rules of "mature" smartphone design. It's a device built for people who still want their phones to feel powerful, futuristic, and a little bit excessive.
