Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 arrives with a full pack of sensors, including an accelerometer, magnetic field, orientation, gyroscope, light, pressure, proximity, gravity, linear acceleration, rotation vector, uncalibrated magnetic field and gyroscope, game rotation vector, geomagnetic rotation vector, significant motion, step detector and step counter. Xiaomi continues its partnership with Elliptic Labs on the provision of ultrasonic proximity sensors for its Mi MIX models. On the Mi MIX 3, the company uses Elliptic Labs' INNER BEAUTY III. It "fuses ultrasound sensor data with standard smartphone data to enhance gesture recognition and enable presence detection for phones." This solution replaces the phone's traditional IR hardware proximity sensor with state-of-the-art software with machine learning. Thus Xiaomi has been able to remove the hardware that takes too much space and at the same time has been capable of boosting detection accuracy and user experience. Xiaomi has also opted for a traditional fingerprint sensor, which is placed on the back of the device. It is a Fingerprint Cards/Goodix FPC1291 sensor which works blazing fast. It is very convenient to reach and extremely fast to store and recognize a fingerprint ID.
